Super Smash Bros. uses StreetPass on 3DS

With Super Smash Bros. coming to 3DS, it makes sense that the game should make use of the various technologies Nintendo has tucked into the handheld. One of those technologies is StreetPass – and the way the game’s implemented this one is pretty sweet.

StreetSmash is a new gameplay mode where you try to knock character tokens off of the map using the Circle Pad. You collect up enemy tokens using StreetPass, and while they move around independently, they’re trying to knock you off of the map too!

The tokens are damaged by bumping into one another (whether that’s two enemies, or an enemy and your token), and once a token is damaged enough, you’ll be able to launch them straight off the map by bumping into them.

If this all sounds a bit familiar, it’s already being compared to Tin Pin Slammer from The World Ends With You – perhaps, in the absence of a sequel to that game, Super Smash Bros. might fill the void?
