At this stage, it’s all just more speculation, but a source “briefed on the matter” has told Reuters that the acquisition is set to be formally unveiled when the next work week kicks off in North America. The source also tells the media that the price of the deal has risen by 25%, to US$2.5bn.
We first heard stories about the deal last Thursday, when we were told the US$2bn deal was close to being finalised. Later, we heard that Minecraft creator Notch was looking to leave the company after the buyout, but both parties have remained remarkably quiet on the topic.
With the calendar ticking over to Monday in the U.S. in just a few hours, fingers crossed we’ll hear more about this deal within the next little while.
