Double Fine invites you to Hack 'N' Slash this week

Prepare for more Double Fine goodness, as we learn that the studio’s latest, Hack ‘N’ Slash, is hitting PC a little earlier than anticipated.

Double Fine founder Tim Schafer broke the news in his usual style, via Twitter:

I have a confession to make. I was untruthful. Hack’n’Slash is not coming out on Wednesday. It’s coming out TOMORROW!

For those of you confused by timezones, that puts the release date firmly on September 9th in North America – times for the rest of the world depends a little on when Steam updates its catalogue.

While it might sound like a non-descript name, Hack ‘N’ Slash might not be quite what you expect – the hack part of the title sees players able to edit the code of the game to take on enemies and solve puzzles. Think more “Hack the planet” and less something you do with an axe…

Hack ‘n’ Slash is a puzzle action game about hacking — reprogram object properties, hijack global variables, hack creature behavior, and even rewrite the game’s code! The game is in Early Access so that you can help us improve it before it’s finished. And remember, the only way to win is not to play…by the rules!

Hack ‘N’ Slash is currently available via Steam early access – you can pick it up now for $19.99, or snag the soundtrack as well for an extra $5.
