Linux gamers to get their hands on Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 is about to become available on a whole ‘nother platform: Linux. The team at Aspyr has been slaving away on Pandora, getting it ready for the additional operating system, and it seems their work is about to come to fruition.

Aspyr typically focusses on bringing games to Mac – as they did with Borderlands 2 late last year – but Gaming on Linux has managed to get the studio to comment on its new plans, too:

Yes! BL2 Linux is absolutely real! We’ve been working hard on it for months and will talk about a release date as soon as possible.

The news popped up first in the SteamDB, with a couple of nifty tweaks to the game’s configuration revealing just what was up.

Gearbox head Randy Pitchford went on the record back in April advising Linux fans not to get their hopes up regarding the Borderlands 2, but it seems that things have changed.

Aspyr is keeping quiet on the topic, not giving us a release window just yet, but the studio has promised that the new version of Borderlands 2 will feature “all of the awesome DLC” for the game, so it should be worth the wait.
