Ubisoft wants to find Australia's best Just Dancer

Proving that there’s a World Champion for just about everything, Ubisoft has announced that Australia will be a part of the publisher’s global quest to find the Just Dance Electronic Sport World Champion.

Believe it or not, it’s a real thing – and the winner of the Aussie round will be flown to Paris to take part in the World Cup at this year’s Paris Games Week (October 30-November 1). Get your dancing shoes on folks, this one’s a Big Deal.

Matthew Tang, Australian Digital Sales and Marketing Manager at Ubisoft explains:

We are extremely excited to have Australia chosen to host a local Just Dance ESWC qualification event. The opportunity to send a Just Dance player from Australia to compete on a global scale is something we had to be a part of and we are really glad that we get to do this for our local Just Dance community.

If you think you’ve got what it takes, you’re invited to take part in the qualifications, which will be held around the country to find the top two Just Dancers from each state.

Mark your calendars with the qualification dance-off times and locations:

  • VICTORIA
    14th September 2014 – 9am-5pm
Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, 64 Sutton St, Melbourne, VIC 3051

  • NEW SOUTH WALES
    21st September 2014 – 9am-5pm
Q2 Dance, 1/105-107 Parramatta Rd, Camperdown, NSW 2050

  • QUEENSLAND
    28th September 2014 – 9am-5pm
RAW Dance Company, 46 Evesham Street, Moorooka QLD 4105

…if you’re not in Victoria, NSW or Queensland, you’ll have to figure out how to get to the above locations for the judges to check out your dancin’ feet.

Everyone is welcome to take part, but you will need to pre-register your interest to guarantee entry into the qualification process.

Two lucky qualifiers from each state will each get one return flight to Sydney, plus one night’s accommodation – so they can take part in the Australian Final, which will be held on October 5 at this years EB Expo.

After dancing for their lives, the Australian Champion will be selected, and invited to take part in the ESWC World Final – a return economy flight to Paris, access to Paris Games Week, $500 spending money and 5 nights’ accommodation.

Before you enter, read the full Terms and Conditions for the Australian Just Dance Championships and make sure you know what you’re getting into – but once you’ve read that and signed up, you’d better get warmed up and start rehearsing!
