Nintendo has finally confirmed details on the company’s Amiibo interactive figures – twelve will be on shelf by the end of the year, with more promised for the future.
The first game to fully take advantage of Amiibo is, of course, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, so the first batch of figures are lifted directly from the brawler. Expect to choose between Mario, Peach, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby, Fox, Marth, an Animal Crossing Villager and the lovely Wii Fit Trainer when these figures finally land.
But it’s not just Smash Bros that’s getting some NFC lovin’ – Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World are also in line for Amiibo support in future.
Priced at AU$17.95 (US$12.99) each, we don’t quite know when they’ll be landing on shelves, but Nintendo has promised we’ll be playing with them before 2015.
