Gamers were hoping that Volition was shaping up to reveal Saints Row V at PAX Prime this weekend, but it seems the developer had other plans. Don’t get too upset though – Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell is headed your way, so you’ll get a fix soon enough.
Gat out of Hell is a standalone expansion pack for Saints Row IV, taking the superhero romp into the depths of Hell (the city, that is). You’ll play as either Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kensington (or both, with a little two-person co-op), as you fight to save the soul of the boss of the 3rd Street Saints. Duke it out with demons and familiar, historical characters before facing off against Satan himself – it’s everything you’d expect from Saints Row.
The neat thing here is that Gat out of Hell is timed to coincide with the PS4 and Xbox One release of Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, meaning that gamers across the board can get in on the ridiculous action.
Taking the series down a vaguely literary path, the team’s actually worked elements of both Dante’s Inferno and the Orphean myth into Gat out of Hell, as well as a full musical number.
…plus, there’s a bunch of great new weapons to wield: An Energy Caster, a Locust Gun, and a reclining chair with machine guns and rockets, known as the Arm Chairmageddon. The seven sins certainly play a part in this one, my friends.
Gat out of Hell is due to hit PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on January 27, 2015.
