Blizzard teases World of Warcraft reveals next week

Blizzard is the latest company to jump on the trend of announcing an announcement. It seems a date has been set for World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, but you won’t be told about it until next week.

The big reveal is set to take place simultaneously at Gamescom and a Los Angeles location, with the brand spankin’ new Warlords of Draenor cinematic shown on the big screen.

If you’re in Germany, head to the Blizzard booth (Hall 7.1 B051) at 6pm CEST Thursday August 14th and you can check out all the action on a 12-metre screen.

…not there? How about California? The LA reveal will be at the Ace Hotel, with Mike Morhaime, Chris Metzen, Ion Hazzikostas and Brian Holinka on-hand to discuss the finer details. They’ll also be showing off the first episode of a mini-series based on WoW lore, Lords of War. This event is free, and first-in / first-served, so you’d better be quick!

Alternatively… you can watch it online, if that’s your bag.

When: Thursday, August 14 at 9:30 a.m. PDT (What’s that in my timezone?)
Where: Join us on WorldofWarcraft.com to watch the live stream, or attend the event live at the Theatre at Ace Hotel, located at 929 South Broadway in Los Angeles. (Doors open at 8:30 a.m.)
Live Attendee Bonus: Anyone who joins us live and in person in L.A. will also receive a beta key for Warlords of Draenor.

The online version will also include a live interview with Ion Hazzikostas and Brian Holinka.

We’re not sure quite what the bigger event is: The mini-series launch, the date announcement or the new Warlords of Draenor cinematic – but the combination of the three is pretty killer.

That said, this is the sort of thing that used to happen at BlizzCon – are events like this detracting from the celebration of all things Blizzard?
