The champ is here: Just one day after reclaiming the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, John Cena has been named the cover star for WWE 2K15. Not what you’d call a surprise, as such – but not a bad move, either.
The reveal was made official at Monday Night Raw, held 24 hours after Cena outlasted fellow superstars Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Cesaro, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, Kane and Alberto Del Rio at Money in the Bank in Massachusetts, to claim his 15th career championship.
The wrestler spoke about his new position on Twitter with his usual modesty:
Call up the interweb machine, tell em’ it’s time to hate us again
Cena previously appeared on the box art for several titles in the WWE SmackDown vs Raw series from THQ, before the company folded and 2K Sports picked up the license. Last year’s WWE 2K14 put The Rock on the cover.
While last year’s game was good, this year’s is set to be even better, with new facial rendering being used to fully capture the superstars and divas, as well as the standard mocap process.
WWE 2K15 is set to hit Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 28 – specific gameplay details are fairly slim at this point, but with 2K settling into the role of wrestling publisher, we’re expecting something big this year.
