Bungie confirms Destiny voice acting will change

Peter Dinklage has changed his destiny, says Bungie. Not necessarily the actor’s lot in life, but the developer reports his voice acting has been “updated” for the beta release of Destiny.

Funny thing about Alpha builds … they’re not done. Please pardon our Moon dust!

Dinklage – best known these days as Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones – came under heavy fire for his voice acting performance as AI companion Ghost in the recent Destiny alpha test. Gamers criticised the wooden, “phoned-in” performance, with many calling it the absolute low-point of an otherwise stellar experience.

Bungie spokesperson Eric Osborne has confirmed that things will be different the next time we see the game.

Hey, we read the same forums … In fact, the Ghost dialog has already been updated for Beta. It will be updated again for launch on September 9th, as well.

We don’t know whether or not this move is a direct response to gamer feedback, at this stage. It’s also worth noting here that Bungie has not specified whether Dinklage has re-recorded his lines, or if the studio’s just polished up what we’ve already heard.

Destiny is headed to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9. A beta test will kick off later this month.
