In January of this year, we told you that Magic: The Gathering was being made into a movie. The good news? It still is! The even better news? Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman is now on board as well.
Cogman has worked for HBO as a writer, story editor and producer on the ridiculously popular series based on George R.R. Martin’s equally-popular fantasy novels, so it makes sense that he’s got the skillset for M:tG. He’s now facing the challenge of writing a “potential franchise” script out of the Planeswalkers universe, reports Deadline.
This is the first name we’ve seen attached to the project besides producer Simon Kinberg, who has also worked on Fantastic Four and the X-Men saga.
Magic: The Gathering has been around since 1993, starting life as a humble trading card game. These days, it’s also branched into video games – we caught up with the latest on Magic 2015: Duels of the Planeswalkers in a recent episode of Player Attack!
