Ladies and gentlemen, we have entered the part of the year where we are suddenly swamped by major game announcements and updates. Not E3, but the dreaded timeframe that is pre-E3. Today: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has been given a release date.
Get ready to joy-puke on the moon: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set to hit shelves around the world from October 14 (October 16 in Australia/New Zealand), for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Remember, this one is set between Borderlands and Borderlands 2, packed with “low-gravity shoot ‘n’ loot mayhem” as you explore Handsome Jack’s origin story. Expect oxygen-propelled jetpacks, as well as a stack of new vehicles, enemies, weapons and (of course) moon environments. There’s even four all-new character classes (with their own unique skill trees).
We’re also set for some drop-in/drop-out online multiplayer as well as local split-screen – so your friends are more than welcome to get in on the action.
Tony Lawrence, general manager of 2K Australia continues:
We are huge fans of the Borderlands franchise and are thrilled to have this opportunity to show what we can bring to the Borderlands universe. We can’t wait for fans to play as Athena, Wilhelm, Nisha and Claptrap and experience the new low-gravity gunplay with awesome new guns to freeze and smash enemies, all in the name of Handsome Jack.
If you needed one final nudge to put this one firmly on your wishlist, let me tell you this. Pre-ordering Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will net you bonus content – the Shock Drop Slaughter Pit. You can jump into an old Dahl facility, where former military recruiter TR4-NU is hosting a sort of interplanetary fight club, giving awesome loot to those who can win against the moon’s toughest enemies.
