If you’ve been paying attention to your farm-sim news, you might have heard that the latest Harvest Moon title is not being published by long-time series publisher Natsume, but instead by XSEED, who is owned by Harvest Moon’s developer, Marvelous. However, Natsume still owns the rights to the Harvest Moon name itself, so the 3DS title XSEED is localizing is called Story of Seasons.
So what’s going on here? Well, Natsume is internally developing this game themselves. The developer states that they will take the series in a direction that Harvest Moon has never gone before… while, of course, maintaining what’s so loved by fans of the franchise.
Details are scarce on the title right now, but we do know that it’ll seem to have quite a bit of customization allowed, that it’s for the 3DS, and that it’s slated to come out this year. We’ll probably learn more at E3 next week.
