Nintendo has teamed up with the United Kingdom channel E4 in an interesting promotion for upcoming Wii U game Mario Kart 8. UK gamers can enter their karting highlights (which can be taken and edited directly within the game itself) into a special competition from May 30th to June 2nd. Those that do have a chance to have their highlight run with their name on it on the channel during a prime time commercial break (8:10pm, to be exact). The five winning participants will also receive a “real life Mario Kart cup”, though no pictures or size dimensions of the cup are given.
Interestingly, these winning reels will also be used to promote another contest of sorts: A contest to win a Wii U system. Having real player footage of Mario Kart 8 is sure to attract more attention than a typical contest commercial, at least.
It’ll be interesting to see what reels are chosen when they go live on June 2nd!
