Those crazy folks at Blizzard know how to party. The studio recently celebrated the two-year anniversary of Diablo III by installing a week-long buff that increased Legendary drops. That was meant to be a limited-time-only thing, but – as of today – it’s going to be a permanent addition.
Designer Travis Day explains on the game’s message boards:
I come bearing exciting news. Due to the overwhelming popularity of our Anniversary buff we have decided to keep the increased Legendary drop rate once the Anniversary celebration ends. Once the buff is disabled tomorrow morning, you will find that the new base line drop rates for Legendary items will be the same as those you have all enjoyed for the last week.
The buff – which handed out double Rift Fragments and increased your chances of getting Legendary items by 100% – was due to expire on May 22nd. We can only hope that this treatment extends to the Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, launching for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in August.
