OK, this isn’t exactly game related, but come on … I’m a Star Wars nerd and I’m sure many of you are too. J.J Abrams took to social networks today to announce a very worthwhile cause, the Force for Change movement. Force for Change is a charity movement between Disney, Bad Robot Studios and Unicef which aims to make the lives of children in need dramatically better.
By donating to the charity, you will also be entered into a contest to appear in Episode VII. That’s pretty much every Star Wars fan’s dream right there. What is potentially most exciting for long time Star Wars fans in this video however is the puppet that strolls by J.J as he talks about the initiative. It’s a puppet. A real life, honest to god, not freaking CGI puppet… and it looks absolutely amazing!
It reinforces the belief most fans have had since the release of… those… prequels *shudders* that practical effects suit the Star Wars universe much better than unnecessary CGI. Here’s hoping Abrams delivers a Star Wars sequel worthy of the series lofty legacy. Also, kudos must be given to Disney for investing $1 million into the Force for Change initiative and to everyone else involved with this incredibly grand cause.
December 2015 really can’t come soon enough…
