It’s official ladies and gentleman, Ubisoft has announced Far Cry 4 AND a release date, so go ahead and pencil in November 18 for you North Americans and November 20 for you Europeans /…not Americans.
Instead of me paraphrasing I’m just gonna hit you with the jive straight from Ubisofts mouth:
Taking a sharp turn away from the lush island jungles of the top-rated Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4 is set in Kyrat, an untamed region currently ruled by a despotic self-appointed king. But don’t be lulled into a false sense of security by the achingly beautiful views; Kyrat is a wild land full of perils. Once again, players will be able to craft their own stories as they travel through this exotic open world teeming with wildlife – using their wits along with an assortment of powerful weapons and diverse vehicles.
“Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations,” said Dan Hay, Executive Producer. “Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”
Ubisoft is treating this game with more respect than a famished mountain lion, having the Montreal based studio collaborating with Ubisofts other heavy hitting studios in Toronto, Kiev, Shanghai and even Red Storm (developers of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier).
And it wouldn’t be a Triple A release without the tease of DLC based pre-order extras, so I’ll give you the heads up! Pre-ordering will upgrade you “for free” to the Limited Edition, which comes with Hurk’s Redemption, a series of three action-packed single-player missions featuring the popular character Hurk from Far Cry 3’s DLC and access to his super phallic harpoon gun “The Impaler”.
Far Cry 4 will be releasing on both next gen consoles (XBOX One and PS4) as well as the previous generation (XBOX 360 and PS3) so everyone will be happy!…unless you own a WiiU…at least you’ve got Mario Kart, right?
