Earlier today, Broussard complained of slurred speech and an inability to type. He rushed to emergency where it was confirmed that he had suffered a mild stroke. His neurologist explains that his speech will remain bad for a while but will recover, and he’s being kept in for observation and tests for a few days.

His verdict? “Sucks.”

Broussard, known as being one of the creators of Duke Nukem, alongside Todd Replogle, Allen Blum and Scott Miller, has been in the games industry for nearly 25 years.

He has since left 3D Realms and works primarily as an independent developer, recently taking part in the Ludum Dare game jam with his submission SUNK (play here!).

We wish George a speedy recovery – we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

UPDATE: @georgeb3dr Have a test  today where they put me under, jab a tube down throat & look at heart but I seem to be out of woods & just checking off boxes. Ivery lucky the clot was small & brief. My speech Is 100% & should stay. Miraculous results. Never more terrified. Thought I was a goner.
