As you might know, cult horror favourite I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream is based on a short story by Harlan Ellison. What you might not know is how simple it is to get a copy of said story: It’s now bundled up directly with the re-release of the game!
The latest patch for the game via Steam has tucked the story into a nifty “Bonus Content” folder, which means you can snag it for Linux, Mac or PC for a bargain basement price (seriously, you’d pay more for the story by itself). We’re not sure if the offer extends to other retailers, but if you want to pick it up from GoG.com, it’s there too.
If you’re more into music than books, the patch also introduces the soundtrack to the game, in both MP3 and OGG formats.
I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream is 19 years old and remains one of the more disturbing games of all time – Ellison’s short story is nearly 50 years old, and equally tormented. (Bonus points: Ellison himself features in the game, as the voice of the computer AM.)
