NBA 2K15 names its cover star

Want to know what you need to do to be on the cover of NBA 2K15? Just ask! Of course, being crowned the NBA league Most Valuable Player probably helps, but Kevin Durant admits that he “begged” 2K Games to put his face on the box.

It’s something that I’ve been longing for for a while, and I’m just grateful for the opportunity. I really think nobody plays the game as much as I do!

While 2015 has been a good year for Durant, it’s been less-great for LeBron James. Not only did he miss out on the NBA MVP title, which he’s held for the past three seasons, but now he’s lost his cover status – to the same guy!

It’s yet another milestone in Durant’s career, which also includes playing in the NBA Finals and winning an Olympic gold medal – and it seems he enjoys re-living the early days.

I enjoy playing the myPlayer mode. Taking your guy through a season, getting drafted… I feel that’s how it is as a real NBA player. It’s about the journey.

NBA 2K15 is due to hit shelves in mid-October for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The previous game – NBA 2K14 – has shipped more than five million units since launching late last year.
