DayZ sells more than 2 million copies

Dean Hall has confirmed that there are literally millions of people playing the standalone version of DayZ. The game has been on the market since December, and has taken the survival horror genre by storm.

Hall tells Twitter:

Just over 2 years ago the DayZ mod released. Today, the standalone game just broke 2 million units in under 6 months.

The mod he’s referring to was the zombie-filled interpretation of Arma 2, which spawned official development of a standalone title at Bohemia Interactive.

Today’s news is the latest milestone in a series of ridiculously-good sales for the studio – the game sold more than 800,000 copies in just three weeks, cracking a million sold after a month on virtual shelves. Remember: It’s not even finished, yet.
