Respawn Entertainment, developers of mech-massacring multiplayer shooter Titanfall (try saying that three times at speed!), co-founder Vince Zampella is joining forces with former head of WMS (a slot machine company) Larry Pacey to create a mobile studio called Nuclear Division, according to a report from VentureBeat.
Nuclear Division will but a stones throw from Respawns HQ, nestled away in LA’s San Fernando Valley. Zampella expressed his thoughts about mobile gaming to VentureBeat, saying it’s growing fast and it would be “silly to ignore [it]”.
It’s a device that I play on because I always have it with me, it’s always connected. You’re engaged with it. There’s something you can do with that. I’m not saying one is better than the other, in terms of console versus mobile. It’s a different gaming experience. Both interest me.”
Zampella also stated that he dabbled with the thought of mobile gaming at Respawn but decided it wasn’t the right fit for the studio, saying his studio was choosing to stay focused on the console market.
Both Zampella and Pacey didn’t disclose what kind of games Nuclear Division will be working on, however they did mention they’re working on tech for a new platform.
Maybe it’s a cross platform app where you can gamble on Titanfall match ups or maybe it’s about puppies and rainbows…and gambling. We’ll just have to wait and see.
