This may or may not be the beginning of the End Times, but Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is introducing microtransactions this week.
Rather than offering new content at a premium price, Garden Warfare gamers will be able to spend real-world money to buy character content and new packs more quickly. It’s a quick way to pick up exactly the same stuff as you’d normally play for hours to earn.
Now you have the choice to play your way; you can play to get new packs and content via earned coins in the game, or you can purchase coins to get more of the packs and content you want right away.
It’s an interesting spin on the free-to-play introduction, which is often seen as being the death knell for a game. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is available right now for Xbox One and Xbox 360, with a PC version in the works – and PopCap is keeping gamers happy with regular, hefty updates.
