New Ace Attorney game set in Meiji Era Japan

Have you gotten around to completing Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney yet? Hankering for more “Objectionable” action. Well lucky you then, as a leaked page from Famitsu magazine has revealed that a new Ace Attorney game is coming. Better yet, it’s being helmed by series creator Shu Takami who has worked on every Ace Attorney title since 2001 with the exception of Dual Destinies on the 3DS, as his time was taken up on the Capcom/Level 5 crossover.

Translating the article reveals that the new Ace Attorney game will be set in Japan during the Meiji Period (1868 – 1912) and star one of Phoenix Wrights ancestors. The hero is Naruhodou Ryuunosuke, who is described as having a keen sense of justice and often puts himself in the path of danger. The games title is Dai Gyakuten Saiban — Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken, which loosely translates as Grand Turnabout Trial — The Adventures of Naruhodou Ryuunosuke.

In a Nintendo Direct earlier this year, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata did say that Capcom were working on a new Ace Attorney game, but gave no further details at the time. The last (canon) entry in the series, Dual Destinies was absolutely fantastic and if Takami and co. can build on the success they’ve had with the series to date, there’s every chance this will be another jewel in the 3DS‘ ever growing crown.

More details as we get them. Stay tuned.
