It’s been a year since Blizzard first revealed Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft back at PAX East 2013. Now, to celebrate the milestone, the studio has released something new for the game – a brand new, single-player campaign.
Curse of Naxxramas has been plucked straight from Warcraft lore. You find yourself in a “floating necropolis”, filled with nightmarish beasts and creepy-crawly bosses. Your task in Hearthstone is, of course, to smite the baddies by the power of your cards. There are five major battles to be won – each representing one of the wings of Naxxramas.
As you progress (and leave a string of defeated baddies in yoru wake), you’ll earn new cards. We’re not talking small fry here, Naxxramas adds 30 brand new cards to the game, and there’s also a chest containing an all-new Legendary hidden away at the end of each wing. All of these cards will only be available to gamers who complete the adventure.
The new wings of Naxxramas will be added to the game once a week for five weeks. If you want to jump in and play, the first wing will be available free! After that, it’s the same deal as The Arena – you can either pay real-world money or hand over your stash of in-game gold… Blizzard ain’t picky.
Despite all these plans, the release date for Curse of Naxxramas is currently a bit sketchy – we don’t have an exact timeframe beyond “as Soon™ as possible”, so maybe don’t hold your breath for this one, no matter how excited you might be.
