Only a few weeks ago, Amy Hennig departed Naughty Dog where she had been serving as the creative-director of upcoming PS4 exclusive, Uncharted 4. There was speculation abound as rumours emerged suggesting the influential creative had been forced out of the company.
“Over the last few weeks, Amy and I have spent a lot of time talking about what her first project would be. There are a lot of different directions we could have gone, but I could sense that what really excited her about this opportunity (because let’s face it, we weren’t the only ones knocking at her door) was Star Wars. Amy’s a huge fan. We happen to be making a Star Wars game. Just thinking about the possibilities made both of us even more excited about having her join the team.” – Visceral VP Steve Papoutsis.
Interestingly enough, it’s not the developers first time at EA, as she worked there during the 90’s. It’s always sad to see developers leave prominent companies – especially when the circumstances seem slightly off, as in Amy’s case.
It is however, fantastic to see them land on their feet. Having Amy involved in a Star Wars title could be the best thing that’s happened to the licensed games since Bioware brought us Knights of the Old Republic.
