Ubisoft has confirmed something we all knew: Of course there are more Assassin’s Creed games on the way. One of them is still firmly under wraps, but the other, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, is due out by the end of the year, heading exclusively to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
We have been working on the new Assassin’s Creed for more than three years and although we weren’t quite ready to show you our full vision for a next-gen only AC, it seems Abstergo are trying to force our hand! So here’s a true first look at in-game footage from Assassin’s Creed Unity. Stay tuned – we’ll have many more exciting details for you in the months ahead!
Abstergo has “forced Ubisoft‘s hand” by sneakily releasing an assortment of screenshots and rumours to the press last week, which also hinted at a fourth-quarter release date and it’s next-gen/PC availability.
So now, we know that Unity will star a new protagonist – Arno – and focus on his experiences in Paris around the time of the French revolution. We’re also told that competitive multiplayer has been scrapped in favour of four-player co-op.
Abstergo also released hints at a second Assassin’s Creed game due out this year, subtitled Comet. This one will only appear on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, and will probably also be released by the end of the year, but we don’t know any more about it than that.
It seems Ubisoft is hoping that one big reveal will tide us over.
