Dark Souls II dominates Japanese charts

We don’t typically cover the Japanese sales charts here on Player Attack, but this week’s #1 is worthy of a mention. Dark Souls II sold more than seven times its closest rival. That’s an awful lot of sun-praising.

The numbers (thanks to Famitsu) speak for themselves. More than 256,701 gamers snapped up Dark Souls II, while just 30,610 picked up this week’s #2 game, 3DS exclusive Youkai Watch.

Top Ten Japanese-selling games

  1. Dark Souls II (From Software) PS3 – 256,701

In the hardware charts, the PS4 is still out in front – but the four-week-old console isn’t ahead by as much as you might expect. While 28,864 units were sold, Japanese consumers also bought 27,576 PlayStation Vita consoles – not bad for the handheld!
