Remember the slick, shiny cutscenes from Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee on the original PlayStation? Imagine a game that puts you inside those cutscenes, with cutting-edge, HD graphics, and a lick of next-gen paint. That game? Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty, out “soon” for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita, with PC, Wii U, Mac and Linux versions also in the works.
Take a look:
We first saw this one back at E3 2013, but haven’t heard much since. Turns out the Gabbits at Just Add Water have been working hard, polishing, redeveloping and reminiscing.
This is more than a minor revamp. Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a complete overhaul of the original game, complete with everything you remember from the PlayStation.
Every single visual element of the game has been recreated from scratch, with stunning special effects and dynamic lighting added to make it even more beautiful.
But it’s not all about the eye-candy: Oddworld series creator Lorne Lanning has gone on the record saying the game needs to sell at least 250,000 copies if we want to see Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus reborn as well, and 500,000 copies will help bring The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot to market.
If you’re a fan and want more of this? Buy the game. Buy copies for your friends. Buy copies for your enemies. Buy copies for your dog… but remember, without you, there’s no more Abe.
