The Last of Us movie in production

Naughty Dog’s feels destroying smash hit Playstation 3 title, The Last of Us, is getting a live action, silver screen adaptation according to reports coming out of Deadline.

Before we all collectively grab our pitchforks and form a crazed mob, it turns out we might not have anything to worry about! Neil Druckmann, the game’s creative director, is all aboard to pen the film’s script, with film legend Sam Raimi’s production company Ghost House Pictures set to produce.

Our partnership with Sam Raimi, Ghost House Pictures, and Screen Gems to develop a film based on The Last of Us universe is a perfect fit

said Evan Wells, co-president of Naughty Dog games.

Since our game released last June, we’ve talked with many companies about making a film, but we couldn’t have found better partners who share our creative vision and high standards. We look forward to collaborating with Sam, his team, and Screen Gems, to make a movie that will thrill fans of The Last of Us and general audiences worldwide.

If any IP can break the spate of sub-par video game to movie tie ins, my money would be on this post apocalyptic tear jerker…well, this or Angry Birds!
