Little has been heard from Nordic Games regarding their plans for the Red Faction and Darksiders franchises since they snapped them up for $4.2 million, along with other titles, during the auctioning off of THQ’s assets last year. That changed today however, as listings for Darksiders Collection and Red Faction Collection popped up on Nordic’s website.
Darksiders Collection features the original Darksiders and its sequel, including all of the season pass content for Darksiders 2, and will launch on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC under the title Darksiders Complete.
Red Faction Collection, Complete on the PC, brings together the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Red Faction: Armageddon and Armageddon’s Path of War DLC., but will only be released on PlayStation 3 and PC. In a statement to Eurogamer the Austrian developer spoke on why the Collection was skipping the Xbox 360:-
“This is because according to Microsoft, the Collection did not comply with some of their guidelines for such a pack,”
For fans hoping that this means news of a new title for either series is on the horizon, or at least some new content for the existing games now they are in new hands, don’t get your hopes up just yet as Nordic Games hinted that nothing is currently in the works for either franchise:-
“The Collections are a good way for us to keep a close eye on the community and if we were ever to go ahead with new game development in the franchises, their feedback will be eagerly received.”
“There won’t be any new content included in each of the games, but the first thing which we’re looking to tackle in the coming weeks / months is the removal of Games for Windows Live in the PC version of Red Faction.”
The collections are currently scheduled to release between April and June this year.
