New Call of Duty title coming from Sledgehammer

There’s a new Call of Duty on the block. For years, Activision has been running a two-developer strategy on the franchise, but today, a third was added to the frontlines.

In an earnings call earlier today, Activision announced that it considers Call of Duty to now span three franchises: Black Ops, Ghosts – each one with its own developer.

It’s anticipated that Treyarch will continue to work on the Black Ops series, Infinity Ward will work on new project Ghosts, and Sledgehammer Games, who worked with Infinity Ward on Modern Warfare 3, will take up the reins on future instalments.

Of course, nothing’s been formally announced, but the first Sledgehammer-driven Call of Duty will be out later this year – we won’t have long to wait and see if our predictions are correct!
