The Duke may well be back, folks. A new teaser website has popped up, hinting at a shiny new action RPG take on Duke Nukem. Of course, we could be wrong, but all signs seem to point at the project being in the works at Interceptor Entertainment, the team who brought us the remake of Rise of the Triad.
Eagle-eyed gamers report the website – alloutofgum.com – previously held a countdown, which was quickly replaced by a “Whoops!” message. Now, the page is “down for maintenance”.
But! For the time the site was live, internet sleuths gathered all sorts of information, translating an “alien message” posted online. The new game is reportedly top-down, action-RPG Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction, it’s powered by the Unreal Engine, and it’s headed to both PC and “PlayStation”.
All new enemies, a never-before-seen arsenal of devastating weaponry and series-first mechanics, including experience points and tech trees, will let Duke rip ‘em a new one in a way he never has before.
Frederik Schreiber, CEO of Interceptor Entertainment posted back in November that he was “personally tired of Pigcops, Turd Jokes, and a Goofy Duke Nukem”. With his company named as the owner of alloutofgum.com, it looks like we could be in for something exciting.
