Director Duncan Jones has hinted that production on the film adaptation of Warcraft will start this week, after years of delay and speculation.
Jones was appropriately vague for such a big announcement:
Going to start shooting the movie tomorrow. Crikey! Better find my specs!
He hasn’t specified which movie he’s going to start, but with Warcraft scheduled to begin “in January”, we figure it’s a safe enough bet to get excited about.
Final details are still to be revealed, but the orcs vs. humans origin story already has a star-studded lineup, including Travis Fimmell, Dominic Cooper, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Robert Kazinsky, Clancy Brown, Toby Kebbell, and Daniel Wu. Characters like Anduin Lothar and Durotan have also been confirmed, although we’re not sure quite how they’ll all fit together. For the film, Azeroth will be played by Vancouver, Canada.
Warcraft is due to hit the silver screen from March 11, 2016 – and even if you’re not a fan of the game, that lineup should be enough to get you interested (of course, if you are a WoW fan, you need no further encouragement).
