There’s a new baseball game headed our way later this year, with Major League Baseball officially throwing its hat into the ring (diamond?) and announcing R.B.I. Baseball 14, for consoles, smartphones and tablets.
Today’s news is very interesting. Firstly, it’s been a long time since we’ve heard anything from the R.B.I. franchise. The license was originally created by Namco in the mid-80s, and then Tengen released another version… but then the franchise died in the water – only to be resurrected now.
The other (more?) interesting factoid: Major League Baseball – the league itself – is officially stepping into the games business. It’ll be using its Advanced Media arm, which is also working on the upcoming WWE Network streaming video service.
With an estimated launch date of “Spring” this year, we’re expecting R.B.I. Baseball 14 some time within the next few months
