The Banner Saga kicks off singleplayer campaign

Nearly twelve months ago, we learned about The Banner Saga, a turn-based RPG Kickstarter project put together by ex-BioWare staff. If you were intrigued then, today’s news will make you happy: It’s finally available for both PC and Mac, via Steam.

The game’s multiplayer component has actually been around for a while, but this is the first time the single-player’s been publicly released.

Stoic Studio, formed by developers who’d worked on Star Wars: The Old Republic, promises a unique tactical combat system, wrapped in stunning art and topped off with an original score from Grammy nominated, two-time BAFTA winner Austin Wintory.

If you pre-ordered the game via Kickstarter, you’re very possibly already playing it, and enjoying the Insane Viking pre-order bonus. If you didn’t, now’s your chance: Hop onto Steam and snap it up for either PC or Mac, depending on your preference.

Plus, while there’s nothing wrong with the undead, we’re happy to report that The Banner Saga focusses its attentions on vikings, as a refreshing change.
