Rather than a simple blog post, press release or even a public statement, the French company took a slightly different approach, putting a word cloud on its website, simply titled “Thanks a million“.
This word cloud represents common words found on the net in user comments posted on the game.
According to Quantic Dream, more than one million copies of Beyond were sold “shortly before Christmas 2013”. This puts it slightly behind the developer’s previous title, Heavy Rain, which launched in February 2010 and had sold a million copies within two months.
We’re not sure what Quantic Dream is doing now – the studio is believed to be working on an (unannounced) PS4-exclusive title, but we haven’t heard anything about that project for months. Perhaps David Cage is shaping up for a big reveal in 2014!
