To all of you who say PC gaming is “dead”, I’d like to point to one simple statistic: Over the weekend, 7,190,578 gamers were logged in to Steam and, presumably, playing games.
It’s over 7 million…
This is the first time that Valve‘s digital distribution platform has cracked the 7 million concurrent user mark, up more than a million gamers from this time last year where it hit 6,046,314.
Number nerds: Steam recorded 5 million gamers in January 2012, up from 4 million in September 2011. The latest figure from Valve says there are more than 65 million registered accounts – a 30% increase on 2012 figures.
The numbers peak around this time every year – we credit the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, combined with the annual, awesome, Autumn Sale, which is still making wallets cry around the world.
