Both TheLastOfUs-Movie.com and TheLastOfUsMovie.net were registered earlier this week by online brand protection agency Mark Monitor. Sony has used the company for registrations in the past – and if that wasn’t convincing enough, the registrant email on the documents is a Sony Pictures account.
At this stage, neither domain actually features any content, and none of the companies involved have made any comment on the project.
The atmospheric adventure from Naughty Dog is a natural fit for the big screen, but the game was heavily inspired by 2009 film The Road, so it may need to tread lightly to avoid creating a carbon copy.
That said, there’s nothing to suggest that a film based on The Last of Us will re-interpret the adventure of Joel and Ellie – we’re sure there are many other stories yet to be told in the same world.
