Believe it or not, you could get the chance to play a new Blizzard game before the end of the year. Reaper of Souls, the new expansion for Diablo III will be entering beta testing in the next month or so, and you could be a part of it.
Blizzard has kicked off the Reaper of Souls Friends & Family Beta Test, the step prior to the official beta test – but this one is a little different to normal.
In the past, participants in this particular phase of public testing usually only include friends and relatives of Blizzard employees. With Reaper of Souls, however, we’ve decided to buck that trend and extend invites to valued media contacts and key members of the Blizzard community. We’re also inviting 3,000 of our most active Diablo III players from around the world who’ve opted in for beta testing—something we’ve never done for any Friends and Family Beta test before!
Fans are warned that the beta content – while not “finished” – does include the entire expansion, excluding the final boss fight, and there are no limits on what can be talked about while playing. This means the risk of spoilers in beta coverage is fairly high, so don’t look too closely if you like the element of surprise.
Meanwhile, if you want in on all of this, make sure your Beta Profile Settings are up to date on Battle.net, and that you opt-in for beta access. This will not guarantee you a spot, but it means Blizzard will know you’re interested!
