The third instalment of ARC System Works’ beautiful 2D fighting series, BlazBlue, is scheduled for a North American release in March 2014 for the Playstation 3. If you’ve never heard of BlazBlue, watch this, salivate and thank me later:
BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma is a direct sequel to 2010’s Blazblue: Continuum Shift, casting fan favourite Ragna as the main protagonist as he continues to hunt down and eliminate Terumi.
On top of adding six new playable fighters to the roster (two being DLC), adding new moves to and rebalancing old combatants, as well as adding a slew of modes not available in the arcade edition, they’ve also overhauled two of the fundamental mechanics from the previous instalments.
An all new mechanic called Overdrive (a risk for reward super buff) now replaces the old Gold Bursts and Guard Crushing has been changed into something called Crush Trigger (which functions like a guard break).
No word yet on an Australian release, but when there is, we’ll let you know!
