Specifically: Make sure you’ve got enough space on your console, either by clearing things off your hard drive or by adding a USB flash drive. COD:Ghosts will take up “less than 3GB of space”, but if you play a lot of games, you should probably check that everything will fit. If you pre-ordered and received the bonus Free Fall dynamic map, you’ll need to download that separately as well – it’s less than 250MB, but it all adds up!
Spokesperson One of Swords explains:
Ghosts will play on an Xbox 360 with an internal 4GB flash drive – just use that built-in storage space for the installation. Also, any compatible USB 2.0 flash drive (formatted for Xbox) with enough free space will work, including thumb drives.
(There are also some instructions on how to check whether your thumb drive will work – or to format it for use with your Xbox 360 – on the Xbox support site.)
…of course, this is only useful if you’re planning on checking out a bit of single-player. If, on the other hand, you just want to dive head-first into the multiplayer lobbies, without looking at any of the solo stuff, you won’t need to install anything.
Call of Duty: Ghosts launches for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 5th, and arrives on PS4 and Xbox One at console launch.
