In news sure to make gamers very, very happy: Telltale Games is working on a second season of The Walking Dead. The project – which, again, has the blessing of Robert Kirkman, the Eisner Award-winning series creator and writer – is available right now for pre-order, because the studio knows you don’t need to know more than “It’s coming!”.
Of course, if you’d prefer a few more details, we’ve got them for you. Like the first season, the games are headed to PC/Mac, home consoles and iOS, with “additional platforms” to be announced later. Season Two also continues the story of Clementine… as a playable character. In case you missed the memo, she’s a young girl who’s been orphaned as a result of the undead apocalypse. In her shoes, you must seek safety – and survive – as you outwit both the dead and the living. Remember, this is a Telltale game, so your morals will be questioned, and the answers you give will impact on the rest of your experience.
Dan Connors, Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games explains:
The terrifying nature of Robert Kirkman’s world has allowed Telltale to push the boundaries of interactive drama in video games to a place that has had fans anxious to know what will happen next in this series. Today we can finally lift the veil, albeit only a little, on how this story will continue, and we’ll soon be putting players in the shoes of a lead role that will challenge their expectations of how to survive in a world where no one can be trusted.
We don’t yet have a date for Season Two, but it’s “expected” to premiere later this year, concluding in early 2014.
If you want to get in on the action early on PC or Mac, snap up a pre-order of the season pass: All five episodes for US$22.49, a saving of 10% off the purchase price and available now via the Telltale Store or through Steam.
