Typing has never been so much fun – or quite so scary. Sega has just surprised us all with The Typing of the Dead: Overkill on Steam. With the catchphrase “Guts will be spelled”, the game incorporates zombies as a way to encourage quick and efficient typing skills.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a Typing of the Dead game – the original hit Japanese arcades back in 1999, based on The House of the Dead 2. This new one though is based on The House of the Dead: Overkill, itself a prequel to the original House of the Dead.
In Typing of the Dead: Overkill, you’ll get “randomised kill-words”, so you can’t just swallow a dictionary and win every time. It’s been fully integrated with Steam functions, and we’re promised two-player co-op is on the way later, as free DLC.
But what’s really exciting – even if you’re not a fan of typing? A “full and faithful port” of the original PS3 version of House of the Dead thrown in for no extra charge.
