Last week’s PlayStation exclusives video included a look at Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, promising “exclusive gameplay only on PS4”. Now though, publisher Ubisoft claims it has no plans to release the extra content on any other platforms at any stage, six-month deal or not.
PlayStation gamers (on both PS3 and PS4) will receive an extra adventure focussing on Aveline, the star of Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation. It adds up to an extra hour of gameplay, which has no bearing on the single-player storyline.
Of course, people change their minds all the time – and Ubisoft is stating very clearly that “at the current stage”, the PlayStation exclusive content is not planned for Xbox One or Xbox 360 release. This doesn’t mean that the extra missions won’t show up there eventually, and it certainly doesn’t rule out the new content landing on PC. The Steam listing for Black Flag lists Aveline’s DLC bringing three extra missions to Windows, despite Ubisoft’s claims.
Time will tell – but if you really want to step into Aveline’s pirate-y boots, you should probably snag this one on a Sony platform. Which one is up to you.
