Aliens are coming to Call of Duty: Ghosts. No, really. Activision has announced Extinction, a new gameplay mode for the upcoming FPS – and it’s all about the extraterrestrial life forms. Or, more specifically: Annihilating said extraterrestrial life forms.
Extinction is an all-new 1-4 player co-op game mode, where you face off against aliens and attempt to destroy their hives. Expect fast-paced survival action, scavenging, class leveling and a bit of FPS base defense. Once all players are dead, it’s time to start again.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen a multiplayer mode added to a Call of Duty game despite having nothing to do with the singleplayer campaign. Traditionally, Treyarch has thrown a bunch of the undead into games like Black Ops 2, but this is a new approach for Ghosts developer Infinity Ward.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is set to hit PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 5th, with versions for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 following at console launch.
