With just over a week to go before Battlefield 4 hits shelves, it’s time to take a look at DICE‘s brand new, “genre-defining” blockbuster. Happily, we have a launch trailer to show off what the team’s been up to, and there’s more than a couple of in-jokes tucked away in here.
…we can neither confirm nor deny that the poor puppy on the receiving end of that impressive punch is Riley, from Call of Duty: Ghosts, but we’re guessing its inclusion isn’t a coincidence.
Of course, there’s some other stuff in there as well, including massive explosions, building collapses, sinking ships and other “typical Battlefield moments”.
We also now know a bit more about the storyline of the game’s single-player campaign: It kicks off with the evacuation of American VIPs from Shanghai – and your squad must find its way home.
We’re promised dynamic destructible environments, epic vehicular combat and “the chaos of all-out war” when Battlefield 4 launches on October 31st for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, with PS4 and Xbox One launches alongside the new consoles.
Good news if you were hanging out for this one on PC, too: Pre-loading for the game will kick off within 24 hours of the game’s release, so you’ll be good to go the moment your boots hit the ground.
