The launch lineup for PlayStation 4 has officially suffered another blow, as platform exclusive DriveClub is delayed to 2014. Rumours swirled late last week that the social racer had suffered a setback, but Sony president of Worldwide Studios confirmed the unfortunate details over the weekend.
DRIVECLUB will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision — and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.
The news on the “difficult decision” came via the PlayStation Blog:
We understand that the delay is disappointing news, but can assure you that the reason we have made this decision is to ensure that when DRIVECLUB launches, it will realize the next gen racing vision. And PlayStation 4 gamers will have no shortage of titles to play this year.
In addition to the full version, the cut-down DriveClub PS Plus Edition has also been delayed – this was set to be the first PlayStation Plus release for the new console, offered as part of the Instant Game Collection at launch.
