Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX confirmed

Hot on the heels of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, Square Enix has just announced it has officially started development on Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for PS3. While we do have a pretty video, we don’t know many more specifics just yet.

Just like the previous release, 2.5 ReMIX is a compilation of a couple of earlier titles. This time, we get Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix (originally for PS2), and an updated version of the PSP release Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. Both of these games were previously only available in Japan, so this is the first time Western gamers are officially able to get their hands on them. Adding even more eye-candy: Cinematic cut-scenes from DS title Kingdom Hearts Re:coded will also be thrown in.

So. If you’ve always wanted to get into Kingdom Hearts but don’t know where to start, 1.5 HD ReMIX is a handy jumping-off point, with 2.5 HD ReMIX continuing the adventure. Head out with Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy, as you explore the origins of the series with characters Ventus, Aqua and Terra. The original gameplay has been restored, this time with glorious high-def visuals and enhanced mechanics.

…and if you’ve already explored these earlier editions, this is a great chance to replay key titles and refresh your memory a little in the leadup to Kingdom Hearts III, due to hit PS4 and Xbox One sometime in the nebulous future.
