Wait for it – Valve has officially announced… an announcement. We’ve been told that “The Steam universe is expanding in 2014″, but we don’t know just how it’ll do that yet. The good news? We won’t be waiting long to find out: The first of three big announcements is happening in just under 15 hours from now.
Last year, we shipped a software feature called Big Picture, a user-interface tailored for televisions and gamepads.
This year we’ve been working on even more ways to connect the dots for customers who want Steam in the living-room.
Soon, we’ll be adding you to our design process, so that you can help us shape the future of Steam.
Recently, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell stated that “Linux is the future of gaming,” hinting that an announcement was on the horizon. One of the three reveals is expected to be the oft-rumoured Steam Box gaming solution – particularly with Valve confirming the company will talk about the steps it is taking “to make Steam more accessible on televisions and in the living room”.
So – if you want to be among the first to know just what Valve’s getting up to, head to store.steampowered.com/livingroom/ in around 15 hours – that’s where it’s all gonna happen.
